Children’s Ballet Classes

Ballet is both an athletic endeavor and art form designed to challenge the body and entertain crowds. This discipline is an excellent way to develop strength, musicality, and mental sharpness. It’s also a fantastic way for your little dancer to get moving and have fun! Watch them grow in skill and confidence with ballet classes at the YMCA.

Class Schedule

Both ballet classes follow the Anchorage School District yearly schedule, including school holidays (excludes in-service days).

Ballet class sessions go from September 14 – December 18 and January 4 – May 20.

Ballet Primer Class: Mon and Wed 5:15-6:00. Open to children 5-7 years old Students are required to take both classes.

This class will explore the fundamentals of ballet training and establish musical and participation skills. Students will begin class with warm-up exercises and stretches, and progress onto fun, rhythm-based combinations. The perfect starter class for your little dancer!

Attendance and Class Rules

Ballet is a discipline that requires consistent training and body safety. For the progress and health of your child, please arrive at least 5 minutes early to class. Failure to warm up together with the class may result in your child sitting out. It is also in students’ best interests to attend class regularly; if you have a scheduling conflict, please let the teacher know beforehand. Before class, please allow your children to use the bathroom as so to minimize interruptions while teaching. Students may bring water bottles into the studio to stay hydrated.
